Following an official grand opening announcement this morning, Apple has begun promoting its landmark new store in Washington, D.C.’s historic Carnegie Library. Overnight, Apple logos were uncovered and the carefully restored building in the center of Mount Vernon Square was decorated with signage announcing the May 11th opening of both Apple’s global flagship site and the DC History Center. The library’s south entrance is flanked by two marble panels with small backlit Apple logos....

HBO’s fantasy drama may be all about plot twists and surprise deaths, but the more that fans explore this world, the more they see that many of the biggest moments may have been foreshadowed (or even spoiled) well ahead of time… The Battle of Winterfell, the biggest on-screen battle ever that will see the armies of the dead and the living finally come together, definitely isn’t a twist - Game of Thrones fans have been expecting the White Walkers to face off against the armies of Westeros since they were first introduced....

With the release of iOS 14.5, Apple’s new App Tracking Transparency policies require developers to get explicit consent before being able to share user data with third-party advertising networks. A new French complaint alleges that Apple’s own advertising network is not held to the same standard, as first reported by Bloomberg. Specifically, the complaint says Apple itself is allowed to use data from across Apple’s apps to serve targeted ads, by default....

A report by Taiwan’s United Daily News claims that Apple supplier Quanta will begin mass-production of the Apple Watch in January, echoing an earlier supply-chain rumor from September. It claims that the initial production run will be between three and five million units. The report says that there have been ‘breakthroughs’ in yield issues, and that the company increased its production staffing from 3000 to 10,000 workers in the second half of the year, with further recruitment ongoing … While Apple still hasn’t given a more specific launch date than ‘early 2015,‘ a leaked comment by retail head Angela Ahrendts said that the launch would be in “the spring....

Full House has been on the minds of ’90s kids once again thanks to the Netflix revival Fuller House, which is going to stream its fifth, final season soon. The original sitcom is family-friendly, full of laugh tracks and lessons, and is always going to cheer up whoever is watching a re-run. Danny Tanner, his three daughters, and the rest of the gang are pretty tame and don’t raise their voices too much, even when they get upset....

Romantic images of bringing iPhone production back to the USA to create jobs were given a further blow today when Apple’s main iPhone assembler Foxconn announced that it has already deployed 40,000 robots on its production lines, and is working towards a goal of fully-automated factories. Foxconn has already replaced more than half its workforce with robots since the launch of the iPhone 6, and the company’s Automation Technology Development Committee general manager Dai Jia-peng said that this was just the start of a three-phase plan … Phase one, reports Digitimes, is to replace individual worker positions with automated work stations, starting with the most dangerous and unpleasant jobs....

Despite there being very few still in existence today, another Apple-1 computer is set to hit the auction block soon. As noted by The Telegraph, German auctioneer Team Breker will soon make a functioning Apple-1 available, estimating the machine will go for around $320,000. Team Breker calls this Apple-1 the “best-preserved example of an Apple-1 computer to appear on the market.” The auction includes the Apple-1 itself, original operation documents, circuit diagrams, and purported notes of telephone calls between Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1977....

Fox Home Entertainment announced this evening that it is bringing its popular Movie of the Day app to the Apple TV. This app offers up a discounted movie via iTunes every day and has previously been available, albeit rather neglected, on iOS. The app kicks things off with a discount of popular movie “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” which will be available for $7.99. Movie of the Day on Apple TV is a rather simplistic idea, allowing users to purchase the discounted movie via iTunes....

Popular sitcom Friends started out with the central relationship of the show being the will-they-wont-they dynamic between Ross and Rachel. However, audiences immediately signaled they had fallen in love with the pairing, and Monica and Chandler became the new standard for a loving, supportive relationship on the show that culminated in a happy marriage and twin babies....

Samsung Galaxy S10 5G speed tests carried out on Verizon in Chicago have shown that the device and service are capable of delivering blazing speeds – when you can manage to get a 5G signal. And the limited coverage isn’t the only challenge to getting 5G connections on the device: you also have to be careful how you hold it … Digital Trends carried out the tests, and the headline numbers were seriously impressive....

Apple has been busily teasing its upcoming Carpool Karaoke series, the Late Late Show spinoff it bought last year. The segment will stream 16 weekly episodes exclusively to Apple Music subscribers, starting next month. We got our first look last month, when Apple revealed that it will use rotating hosts and showed a number of the celebrities who will feature. This was quickly followed by a second clip, where we saw that the show will feature guests singing their own personal playlists....

Apple has been very generous with its free promotional offers for Apple TV+ with year-free trials alongside the purchase of new hardware extended through the pandemic period. However, those trials are now coming to an end and many more customers will need to start paying to watch Apple TV+ original TV shows and movies, or cancel their subscription if they don’t want to continue. Apple TV+ offers access to a growing library of original, exclusive, video content across TV shows and movies....
