Game of Thrones season 8, episode 4, “The Last of the Starks,” concluded with a tense standoff between Queen Cersei and Queen Daenerys, ending in the horrifying execution of Daenerys’ loyal advisor Missandei. Given an opportunity to say any last words, Missandei had only one word to say: “Dracarys” - a High Valyrian word meaning “dragonfire.” It will be familiar to Game of Thrones fans, as it’s the word Daenerys says to Drogon when she wants him to unleash fire on her enemies....

Friends left the audience with a bunch of jokes, unforgettable characters, and one big question: were Ross and Rachel on a break or not? The acclaimed sitcom Friends came to an end in 2004 after ten seasons, but this running gag wasn’t fully resolved. Contract manufacturer Foxconn, which makes Apple gadgets, is expected to manufacture twenty million iPad 2s in the third quarter, more than doubling the 9.25 million iPad units Apple sold during the previous quarter of this year. The tidbit came in a DigiTimes report today: Foxconn just reported its financial results for the first half of this year. Net profits reached NT$27.38 billion, or about $945.93 million, but earnings per share decline 20 percent from the year-ago quarter, down to NT$2....

The first official Game of Thrones season 8 photos show the series’ main characters looking (understandably) worried. HBO’s extremely popular adaptation of George R.R. MOGA have been making gamepad accessories for Android devices for a while. Today, they have announced on their website an adapted version compatible with iPhone and iPod touch. Pokémon Shield (and not Pokémon Sword) just got a whole lot more whimsical, thanks to the exclusive addition of Galarian Ponyta as an obtainable monster. Fans were teased with the inclusion of Galarian Ponyta during a recent 24-hour livestream that left some fans dissapointed. The new pocket monster was the only new reveal during the stream, so some fans felt as if they had wasted their time. While that Pokémon Sword and Shield broadcast left many with a few brief glimpses of the creature, The Pokémon Company has now officially confirmed that it is Galarian Ponyta....

When it ended, Game of Thrones left a lot of questions unanswered and many plot threads unexplored. The Dothraki were among the groups of individuals who didn’t have a complete story once the credits had rolled on the finale of the HBO show. The Dothraki were a major part of the first season, but as time went on the focus was less and less on this tribe of warriors and more on the ultimate goal of Dany capturing the Iron Throne....

Gartner’s latest global smartphone numbers are out and if your name isn’t iOS or Android, the future looks pretty bleak. While iOS continues to gain share at pace even without a new model release (up one point for the quarter and over 4 points year over year), the bigger story continues to be Android’s outright theft of marketshare from Symbian. Just in the last quarter, 10 percent of the market shifted from Symbian to Android and for the year, the number is close to 20%...

A new report from Nikkei today says that iPhone assembler Foxconn has hired enough workers to meet “seasonal demand.” What this seemingly means is that Foxconn has recovered from the COVID-19 shutdown in China and is prepared to ramp up mass production for the iPhone 12. The report says: iPhone 12 production is expected to peak in July ahead of a fall release, the report says. The report also points out, however, that Foxconn production volume in February and March is believed to be at around half that level, so there’s still a “long way to go” before returning to full production....
