Gabrielle Union’s firing controversy is tarnishing America’s Got Talent’s reputation. That seems to be the consensus following a tumultuous 14th season of the hit show. In November 2019, it was first reported that judges Union and Julianne Hough were unceremoniously fired from their posts. This was not the first time that the show burned through personnel, but the terminations did raise an eyebrow or two. Weeks later in December, news broke that the aforementioned firings had less to do with impropriety on the parts of Hough and Union, and more to do with a toxic workplace....

The long-anticipated meeting between Daenerys Targaryen and the surviving Stark children didn’t go as well as some fans hoped. Daenerys allies with Jon Snow in season seven of Game Of Thrones and travels to Winterfell with her dragons and armies in season eight. Despite going North to aid in the fight against the White Walkers, however, the Dragon Queen is met with hostility and rejection. Sansa rebuffs Dany’s attempts to forge a friendship and directly undermines the Targaryen queen as she pushes for Northern independence....

iPhone assembler Foxconn has reported revenues of NT$451.04B (US$14.83B) for September, up 42.4% on the previous month, but down 3.7% year-on-year. What’s interesting about this is what it appears to indicate about iPhone 8 sales … Apple is not Foxconn’s only client obviously, so extrapolating from its revenue to Apple sales is always an inexact science, but the iPhone assembly operation is such a huge part of the company’s business, especially during launch months, that it’s not unreasonable to draw some conclusions....

Game of Thrones is over, but the finale leaves behind some major unanswered questions. In the final episode, “The Iron Throne”, Daenerys Targaryen won the war against Cersei Lannister, but her triumph proved to be short-lived as Tyrion Lannister conspired with Jon Snow to save Westeros from the Mad Queen - by Jon killing Dany. After Daenerys’ demise, the Game of Thrones finale resolved the lingering plotlines of the series. Despite the Iron Throne being destroyed, Westeros still needed a ruler, and the lords and ladies of Westeros chose Bran Stark as their King, dubbing him Bran the Broken....

Apple is currently engaged in a high-profile legal battle with Qualcomm centered on patent royalties. Apple struck first back in January and has since expand its lawsuit to additional countries, while Qualcomm has officially hit back with a countersuit. While the Federal Trade Commission had originally stated that Qualcomm had monopolistic like qualities, the trade group this week has yet again slammed the chip maker… In a filing with the US District Court in San Jose, California, the FTC accused Qualcomm of being a monopoly and preventing key customers, like Apple, from doing business with other companies....

The series finale of our favorite HBO show, Game of Thrones, finally premiered earlier this year in 2019. Still, we’ll never get over the dynamic and incredible characters of this show. Over the course of the series, we met tons of villains - some totally horrible, some even lovable, and some that we couldn’t wait to see meet their demise. Game of Thrones’ ending may come after a divisive final season and leave many questions behind, but it’s difficult to think of another way the series could’ve ended without betraying its central premise and themes. The Game of Thrones series finale, “The Iron Throne,” saw Daenerys finally reach her goal and win her place as ruler of Westeros. But destruction she left in her wake, combined with her intention to pursue rule of the known world convinced Jon and Tyrion that she was a more dangerous ruler than any they’d faced before....

Will Jon Snow have to kill Daenerys Targaryen? Khaleesi perhaps best illustrates one of Game of Thrones’s most central storytelling motifs – which is precisely why her thematic counterpart and paramour just may end up having to kill her. Game of Thrones has, for the past seven-and-a-half seasons, emphasized a rather malleable sense of identity for its various characters, which typically leads to an ever-changing set of political allegiances; just in season 8, episode 4, “The Last of the Starks,” for instance, both of Dany’s most high-ranking aides, Tyrion Lannister and Lord Varys, juggled with the very real possibility of abandoning the Dragon Queen and instead putting their support around the would-be Warden of the North (which isn’t to mention the upjumped sellsword Bronn’s backstabbing of the backstabbing Queen Cersei Lannister, or Jaime Lannister’s leaving Ser Brienne of Tarth for his regal twin sister)....
