Lord Petyr Baelish, aka Littlefinger, was a master manipulator on Game of Thrones and there was speculation that he was the father of Robin Arryn. Littlefinger served as the Master of Coin on the small council appointed by King Robert Baratheon, and later, King Joffrey Baratheon. In addition, Littlefinger owned the brothels in King’s Landing as a way to gain information on important figures throughout Westeros. He was an expert spy and often manipulated those around him for his own personal gain.

Littlefinger’s relationship with House Arryn allowed him to get one step closer to his goal of obtaining the Iron Throne. At a young age, Littlefinger wound up in Riverrun, the home of House Tully. While there, he befriended both Catelyn and Lysa. He was in love with Catelyn but she did not reciprocate those same feelings. Lysa, however, became obsessed with Littlefinger, though she eventually married Jon Arryn, the ruler of the Vale.

Jon and Lysa only had one child, Robin, who was named Robert in the A Song of Ice and Fire book series by George R.R. Martin. Jon died of mysterious circumstances and Littlefinger quickly swooped in and married Lysa, becoming the Lord Protector of the Vale. He also gained more power with the opportunity of controlling Robin after murdering Lysa. A popular fan theory believed that Littlefinger unknowingly had a closer connection to Robin, claiming that the pair were father and son. Martin’s novels held a lot of evidence surrounding the theory - including the relationship Littlefinger and Lysa shared as well as Robin’s appearance.

The Evidence That Robin Arryn Is Littlefinger’s Son In The Game Of Thrones Books

The most obvious evidence supporting the notion that Robin was the son of Littlefinger was his appearance stated in the novels. Robin was described as small, pale, and having a skinny build with dark hair. Jon, his supposed father, had a muscular build with blue eyes and blonde hair. If anything, Robin’s description closely matched that of Littlefinger. His nickname was given to him due to his small and unintimidating nature, after all.

When Lysa was trying to have a child, she suffered from multiple miscarriages and stillbirths. At one point in the novel series, it was revealed that Littlefinger lost his virginity to Lysa. They carried on their romance; she became pregnant but was forced to have an abortion while he was banished from Riverrun. There were certain points of dialogue that hinted the two carried on their relationship. Lysa once proclaimed to Littlefinger that “I want us to make another child, a brother for Robert or a sweet little daughter.” It’s possible that she was referring to the child that she aborted or she could be insinuating that Robin was his son.

Lysa’s family made her end the pregnancy with moon tea, a method used for abortion. If she knew how to make the moon tea, it’s very possible that she purposely miscarried Jon’s children since her true love was Littlefinger. If they did conceive during their affair, Lysa would have become extra cautious with the child while remaining protective after his birth. It was no secret that Lysa sheltered Robin in the books and the Game of Thrones TV series until her death. Of course, if Robin was the son of Littlefinger, it would have made sense if Lysa shared that crucial information but maybe she was planning to do so prior to her murder. Littlefinger is still alive in Martin’s novels so maybe the theory will be confirmed in The Winds of Winter.
