There’s plenty of questions we still have unanswered about the world of Game of Thrones. The hit HBO show didn’t exactly end on a bang and left a lot of plot threads without a solid conclusion. A number of famous households were subjected to this lack of concrete story telling.

House Tyrell was one of the victims of the condensed plot, which saw many story elements dropped from the series. Here are ten unanswered questions we therefore have about one of the major Westeros houses; House Tyrell.

WHAT WAS MARGAERY’S PLAN?

Margaery Tyrell was subjected to some of Cersei Lannister’s worst behavior. She was imprisoned, manipulated and even kept away from her family. She was seemingly a threat to the political stability of the Kingdom and therefore had to be removed.

It seemed that the young Tyrell had a plan on how to escape. She gave a signal that she had everything under control, but we never got to learn what she was actually doing. She was blown up with wildfire before the story ever got concluded.

DID OLENNA WANT THE THRONE?

Olenna Tyrell was clearly playing the long game, but we have no idea what her final purpose was. The quest for the Iron Throne had many people become power hungry, but we’re not sure that Olenna herself actually wanted to sit atop the chair.

Perhaps she was trying to secure victory for the rest of her household, but even then it’s not totally clear who she expected would take on the role of being King or Queen. Maybe she simply wanted her hand in picking the next leader, rather than aiming for the Tyrell’s own rise to power.

WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO LORAS?

Loras was just in the process of being removed of all his sin and was actually being inducted into a religious order that would have sought to completely change him. If he hadn’t have died along with everyone else in the Sept, what would have happened next?

It’s possible that the family would have found a way to free him from his capture so that he could move on to a new phase of his life. On the other hand perhaps he would have stayed in King’s Landing along with the other sparrows.

IS HOUSE TYRELL REALLY DEAD?

There’s talk that House Tyrell is officially dead. Jaime mentioned it when he poisoned Olenna, suggesting that the family line was officially dead with her. Later in the show it was said that Highgarden is open since the Tyrells are gone.

However, we’ve actually seen Tyrell cousins and other family members throughout the show. Does this mean they have all been killed off too or are they deemed not quite important enough to be taken seriously?

WILL ANYONE TRY TO RISE UP?

With some Tyrells potentially still left and a legacy for the house that cannot be ignored, will anyone try to rise up in the name of Tyrell? It’s possible that someone could try to revive the dead house but for what purpose?

Those who were responsible for its destruction are now dead themselves. With a new King on the throne, they could try to restore some of their previous titles and land. Bran the broken is a generous King so there’s not really a need for a rebellion.

WHAT DOES BRONN DO WITH HIGHGARDEN?

Bronn is now in charge of Highgarden since it was left empty. It was considerably larger than Riverrun and so he was offered it up as a reward for not killing Tyrion. But what does he actually want to do with this new land?

Perhaps he’s going to create a new house with a legacy that will last much longer than the Tyrells. On the other hand this might be a short term thing as we could totally see him losing everything he owns in a bet or some other strange circumstances.

WAS ANYONE PUNISHED FOR OLENNA’S CRIMES?

Olenna’s dying confession was that she was responsible for the death of Joffrey Lannister. This came as a big blow for Jaime and we can only imagine that it didn’t go down too well with Cersei either.

She would have wanted some kind of revenge, but with the culprit dead it seems like no one was around to answer for the crimes. The question is therefore, were any of these Tyrell cousins made to answer for Olenna’s crimes?

IS HOUSE TYRELL MENTIONED IN THE HISTORY BOOKS?

The Song of Ice and Fire was written as a way to remember the start of the War of the Five kings and the conclusion of the conflict between all the different houses. There were a number of omissions from the book as Tyrion learned.

A question we’d love to have the answer to is how much of a part do the Tyrell’s play in this rendition of the story? In the actual history of Westeros they were quite significant but since they are now gone, was their role undervalued?

WHO WOULD THE TYRELLS HAVE SIDED WITH IN THE END?

Since the Tyrell’s were removed from the final picture it’s difficult to know who they would have sided with. Although Olenna seemed to have given her blessing to the Queen of Dragons, would things have changed once they saw the final fate of King’s Landing?

Chances are they would have also sided with Jon Snow and perhaps even would have been accepting of Bran Stark as the new king. We’ll never know though as no representative for House Tyrell was present at the final meeting.

WHAT DO THEIR ALLIES DO NOW?

There’s plenty of people who had sided with House Tyrell over the years. They had built a strong foundation of allies that would back them up in many dangerous situations. However many of them have been killed off.

The Tarlys are an example of a household that died rather than betray their values. But what happened to those that are left? Do these allies continue to fight for their fallen house or are they just factored into the new regime?
