Game of Thrones has ended, but we are getting a prequel which will hopefully answer all the questions we still have after the show’s finale. Even though the show was quite unique, it still had some similarities with other series, but that didn’t make it any worse.
Along the way, we got very many cute couples from Jon and Ygritte to Ned and Catelyn. Nevertheless, there were some pairings fans really wanted to see, but we never got them, so here are 10 Game Of Thrones Fanfiction Romances We Wish Were Canon.
Jonsa (Jon Snow & Sansa Stark)
After it was revealed that Jon isn’t actually Ned’s son, it became much easier to ship him with his ex-sisters. It was still a bit strange seeing that Jon and Sansa are cousins, but it was more acceptable nonetheless considering that such relationships between somewhat distant relatives were common in Westeros.
Even though Jon and Sansa didn’t get along at first, they came to like and respect each other with time. They still had disagreements, but Sansa became the Queen in the North at the end which resulted in the two parting on good terms.
Robcella (Robb Stark & Myrcella Baratheon)
Even though Robb and Myrcella never actually met, many fans believe they would make a very nice couple which is true once you get one glance at the two. Both of them are smart and good-looking, so they would definitely make a great couple.
Robert and Ned wanted to join their houses, so an alternative for Joffrey and Sansa’s marriage could be Robb and Myrcella’s marriage (even though we knew that both Joffrey and Myrcella weren’t Robert’s children).
Danyara (Daenerys Targaryen & Yara Greyjoy)
Because of Yara’s sexuality, she was being shipped with many female characters, but the most popular pairing remains that of Yara and Daenerys. The two only had a few interactions, but Yara sided with Daenerys and followed her orders, so that already became some kind of relationship (not a romantic one though).
It’s hard to imagine Daenerys choosing Yara as her lover, but both of them did show some subtle signs of maybe liking each other a little more than just allies. In any case, Yara did get some sort of an affair with the Martells.
Robbaery (Robb Stark & Margaery Tyrell)
Another two characters that never met but would make a very nice couple are Robb and Margaery. They both come from noble houses that value family ties and love their people while their people love them in return.
Both Robb and Margaery are also smart in a way. Robb is a great tactician while Margaery knows how to make people do what she wants. They would definitely be great together if only their parents decided that it was time to join forces.
Jonrya (Jon Snow & Arya Stark)
Much like the case with Jon and Sansa, shipping Jon and Arya became much easier once Jon’s parentage was revealed. However, unlike Sansa, Arya has always liked Jon and he liked her back, so they got along much better.
Arya often felt different and Jon felt the same thing. They both wanted more than what their lives were giving them and they both had an adventurous spirit to them being able to withstand almost any hardships.
Sansaery (Sansa Stark & Margaery Tyrell)
Sansa and Margaery were really good friends on the show and Margaery seemed to pity Sansa and try to cheer her up while the girl was going through so much. Consequently, fans felt that there might have been something more going on between them.
If you think of it, Sansa and Margaery would actually make a very nice couple. They are both beautiful and Sansa learns a lot from Margaery and Cersei during her stay in King’s Landing. Of course, it is highly improbable that such a thing could have happened, but it’s still nice to imagine it.
Rickeen (Rickon Stark & Shireen Baratheon)
The youngest characters on Game of Thrones were bound to be shipped one way or the other. Rickon and Shireen have never met, but they would make a good couple considering that both of them are curious about the world and kind to the people around them.
It’s hard to say what they would be like as adults, but it seems that both Rickon and Shireen would make wise rulers and wouldn’t lead their people into battle unless it was absolutely necessary. After all, they are both quite peaceful characters.
Breera (Bran Stark & Meera Reed)
It is undeniable that there was something between Bran and Meera ever since the moment they first met. However, Bran would go on to distance himself from Meera (and pretty much every living person around him) as he came closer to becoming the Three-Eyed Raven.
It’s a pity their relationship didn’t see the development so many fans wanted. Meera herself was extremely disappointed in who Bran became and was quite reluctant to leave him. Nevertheless, she knew it was the right thing to do, so she did it.
Theonsa (Theon Greyjoy & Sansa Stark)
Theon’s character arc is probably one of the most enjoyable arcs on the show. In fact, only several characters have as much development as he does and Sansa just might be one of them. This is perhaps one of the reasons why they seem to be so compatible.
After Theon rescues Sansa from Ramsay Bolton, they seem to have something new growing between them, a potential relationship. However, this doesn’t end in anything and Theon simply dies heroically completing his character arc.
Briemund (Tormund Giantsbane & Brienne Tarth)
The last two seasons introduced somewhat of an intrigue for the audience that wanted to see Brienne with Jaime. Now that Tormund was actively pursuing the “big woman”, Jaime had some competition (that he frankly didn’t do much about).
Tormund and Brienne seemed to be as much of a pair as Jaime and Brienne, so it was always intriguing to see who she would end up with. But even though she chose Jaime, we know that both her and Tormund survived the war and there is a chance they could meet again someday.
