Here’s the heartwarming way Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot wished the character a Happy Birthday. To say Gal Gadot’s role as Diana Prince was her first big film role would be a lie. Before she starred in Wonder Woman, Gadot had a recurring part as Gisele Yashar in the Fast & Furious movies, appearing in three of its nine films. But it was her breakout role playing Diana Prince and her superhero alter ego Wonder Woman in the DCEU that really put her on the map.

It’s fair to say that Gal Gadot owes a lot - quite literally - to Wonder Woman. Gadot has recognized she’s got a lot to be grateful for and has expressed her appreciation for the iconic female superhero that made her a household name on more than one occasion. In an interview with EW promoting the Wonder Woman movie, Gadot sweetly said of playing the warrior Princess of Themyscira:

“I feel very privileged that I got the opportunity to portray such an iconic, strong female character. I adore this character and everything that she stands for and everything that she symbolizes.”

In addition to wishing Wonder Woman Happy Birthday, Gadot posted a clip from the very first issue of the character’s solo titled comic book series. Published in 1942, Wonder Woman Vol. 1, #1 was the first comic devoted exclusively to the female superhero and told the tale of her mythical origins. The befitting clip Gadot posted features the moment that Aphrodite granted life to the clay statue sculpted by Wonder Woman’s mother Hippolyta that became Diana, Princess of Themyscira.

Gal Gadot will soon return to the big screen as Diana in the long-awaited sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, which moves the action from the First World War to the Cold War. That won’t spell the end of Gadot’s stint as Wonder Woman, though. She’s set to reprise her role in Justice League Part Two and a second Wonder Woman sequel that director Patty Jenkins intends to set in the present day.
