The Marvel Cinematic Universe already has an immense level of talent, but Kevin Feige says there are even more Hollywood icons already secretly cast. Right from the start, Marvel Studios has made a habit of casting big name actors in various sized roles. Jeff Bridges and Samuel L. Jackson signed up for Iron Man alongside a Robert Downey Jr. looking for his big second chance. Since then, cinema stars like Tommy Lee Jones, Anthony Hopkins, Ben Kingsley, Robert Redford, Benicio Del Toro, Tilda Swinton, and Michael Douglas have joined in supporting/villain roles, just to name a few.

This star power has recently translated in the casting of their leads with Benedict Cumberbatch, Brie Larson, and Chadwick Boseman being some of the newest leads cast. After finding success in someone like Tom Holland or turning Chris Pratt into a star, there is an argument to be made that the Marvel brand can help turn anyone into the next Hollywood star, but Feige still has more in store.

Feige spoke to Fandango in the lead up to the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, a movie that has two more examples of them scooping up big names with Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone joining. The Marvel Studios president was asked about Marvel’s ability to attract talent and even with all the names they’ve confirmed to this point, there are a number of secret castings they are holding onto for now.

These surprises could be referencing any of the number of films they’ve already announced, but may more directly relate to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, and the recently wrapped Black Panther. Each of these movies already feature some iconic actors - i.e. Michael Keaton, Jeff Goldblum, and Forest Whitaker respectively - but it appears Marvel’s notoriously tight security has kept some surprises in store. Whether or not these are leaked ahead of time is unknown, but clearly there is more to the cast of each of these films - and the rest of Marvel’s Phase 3 slate - than meets the eye.

There are a few that are coming up, actually. I’ll keep this spoiler-free, but be assured that there are more surprises of that caliber heading into our universe in the next few films.

With so many recognizable names already involved in the universe, it would at first appear difficult to find more star power. However, the likes of Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, John Goodman, James Earl Jones, Angelina Jolie, Woody Harrelson, and George Clooney are just a few Hollywood heavyweights who have yet to appear in a comic book universe and have a previous connection to the company. That doesn’t guarantee these actors have secretly joined the MCU, but Disney loves working with the same people over and over. Regardless of which specific talent they add, it is clear neither Feige’s ambition nor the MCU’s talent is lacking.
