Netflix has released the Fuller House season 5 trailer which brings the whole family back together, minus Aunt Becky. It was announced earlier this week the continuation of the popular 90’s sitcom would release the first half of their fifth and final season on December 6th on Netflix. The show centers around the Fuller-Tanner clan and features actresses Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber playing the adult versions of characters they portayed over two decades ago.
Debuting in 2016, the show’s story centers around DJ Tanner-Fuller (Bure), a widowed mother of three, whose sister Stephanie (Sweetin) and childhood best friend (Barber) live together in the Tanners’ childhood home in San Francisco. Series regulars from the original sitcom like Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, John Stamos and Lori Loughlin popped in and out in previous seasons of the show, but earlier this year after the news of Loughlin facing multiple charges in the “Varsity Blues” college admissions scandal, Loughlin was let go from the cast.
In the just released trailer for season 5 of Fuller House, viewers find the Fuller-Tanner clan preparing for the arrival of Stephanie and Jimmy’s baby coming home, with them still not revealing the baby’s name as they hang a sign which welcomes a “baby-to-be-named-later” — a running joke on the show. Along with this little baby moment, viewers are met with DJ claiming how happy she is as her whole family is around her and she wants to be with her longtime love, Steve — who appeared on the original series. And of course, there’s Danny Tanner giving some fatherly advice to his daughter Stephanie, a new mom, about how if if you’re a parent and you do your job right, “eventually, you’re out of a job.”
Fans can even catch a little glimpse of Uncle Jesse and Joey up to their old antics, minus Uncle Jesse’s wife Aunt Becky, of course. As discussed earlier, Lori Loughlin was let go prior to filming season 5 due to her legal troubles. It was announced earlier this year creators decided to have Uncle Jesse divorce his longtime wife in order to explain her absence from the show’s final season. Another big plot point for this last season is likely going to be Stephanie and Jimmy’s wedding, which will be taking place while Stephanie gets used to being a first time mom with a partner who travels for a living.
All in all, it’s pretty much everything one might expect out of a trailer for the final season of Fuller House. A few laughs from the kids, visits from the older relatives as they offer sage wisdom, parents and their children finding their way through funny and sweet methods, and lots of syrupy sweet moments which will probably make viewers laugh and tear up a little at the same time. The first half of Fuller House season 5 will be available starting December 6th on Netflix.
