Disney’s Frozen 2 includes numerous clever jokes and Frozen callbacks, but some viewers may have missed the best comedic moment, which comes during its post-credits sequence. In Frozen 2, sisters Anna (Kristen Bell) and Queen Elsa (Idina Menzel) have grown up and put aside the bickering that dominated Frozen’s storyline. Now, there’s a sense of peace and understanding, with the Arendelle sisters fondly recalling their late parents and stories about a northern tribe known as the Northuldra, who live in the Enchanted Forest. Because Anna and Queen Elsa have more self-awareness, Frozen 2 incorporates numerous comedic callbacks to the original film, such as when Queen Elsa remembers her dramatic rendition of “Let It Go.” Meanwhile, the playful snowman Olaf (Josh Gad) is exactly the same, and serves as the foundation for Frozen 2’s comic relief.

Frozen 2 has a different mood and tone than the original film, which means that the comedy is obviously different as well. In this case, Anna’s Frozen experiences set up sharp sequel punchlines, most notably when Queen Elsa implies that she might take a solo trip up north. Anna, now wiser and more confident, reminds her sister that she - Anna - climbed the North Mountain, overcame a frozen heart, and saved Elsa from Hans. The sisters also play charades early on, which allows for a few laughs before Frozen 2 settles into its primary narrative, one that’s mostly focused on heritage, loyalty, and familial bonds.

Olaf steals numerous scenes once again, with his best moment coming thanks to a storyline recap in Frozen 2’s after-credits scene. At the very end of Frozen 2, Olaf returns to recount the movie itself. At the North Mountain, he jabbers away and comedically notes that “a bunch of things happened that I forgot.” Olaf briefly recaps Frozen 2 and concludes with “And thus, I live, and so do you,” shortly before the gigantic Marshmallow from Frozen appears.

Of course, Frozen 2’s after-credits scene is also a repeat of one of the film’s most memorable moments. When Queen Elsa and Anna’s journey commences, they unsurprisingly bring along Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), Sven, and Olaf. Since the Northuldra natives and some long-lost Arendelle soldiers have been dealing with some heavy Enchanted Forest mist for approximately 40 years, they don’t exactly know about the juicy drama from across the way. So, Olaf comedically fills them in, which is arguably his best in-movie scene.

Olaf’s final commentary is both funny and poignant because of what he experiences in Frozen 2. As Queen Elsa roams further into Ahtohallan, her snowman buddy unfortunately fades away and becomes part of the land’s mist. But Olaf’s brief departure sets up another callback to Frozen. After a historic dam is broken, Queen Elsa and Anna become the new Arendelle-Enchanted Forest connection, and muse about whether they want to build a snowman - a direct callback to the popular Frozen song “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” And thus Olaf lives to recap once again and deliver the best joke of Frozen 2.
