Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Frozen 2.

In the latest entry of our ongoing series, Screen Rant’s Ryan George reveals what (probably) happened in the pitch meeting for Frozen 2. Just when parents thought they were safe from endless replays of “Let It Go,” Anna and Elsa returned this year to thaw out one of Disney’s biggest animated hits. The sequel sets out to answer lingering questions from the first movie and… well, sort of succeeds.

Set three years after the events of the first movie, Frozen 2 sees Arendelle fall into danger again, this time being attacked by a collection of elemental spirits. To fix things, Anna, Elsa and their friends follow a voice in Elsa’s head to an enchanted forest that has been locked inside a magical mist for decades. Inside the forest are a group of people called the Northuldra and some Arendelle soldiers, who have been very unfriendly neighbors ever since the mist trapped them while they in the middle of a battle. Also occupying the forest are the manifestations of those pesky elemental spirits: an adorable salamander called Bruni, some rock giants, and an invisible wind spirit called Gale. Bruni will probably sell a lot of new toys for Disney, but Gale is going to be a challenge.

In the six years since Frozen was released, fans have had plenty of time to come up with their own theories - whether it’s that Anna and Elsa’s parents are also Tarzen’s parents, that one or both of their parents actually survived the shipwreck, or that Queen Iduna had powers similar to Elsa’s. After Frozen 2, those theories have been (in order) debunked, mostly debunked, and sort of proven true. It’s hard to be sure, since Frozen 2’s ending is kind of confusing, but here’s how the original pitch meeting for the movie probably went.

Naturally, Frozen 2 has been a huge hit at the box office and is expected to easily pass the billion-dollar mark worldwide. At this point, Disney has amassed quite a collection of billion-dollar movies and is spoiled for choice when it comes to making lucrative sequels. Still, even if Anna and Elsa get a few years of peace ruling over Arendelle and the Northuldra, we can definitely expect Frozen 3 to happen somewhere down the line.

In the meantime, with all the new lore introduced, we can also expect plenty more fan theories. For example, what if Frozen is set in the Marvel universe and Elsa is actually a mutant? Would it really be any weirder than Kristoff singing a classic rock ballad surrounded by a chorus of reindeer?
