Friends is beautifully and elegantly timeless. It can also be messy, just like life. The ups-and-downs that the group of six friends went through provided plenty of things for audiences to relate to. It’s one of those shows that demonstrates the perfect platform for providing relatable stories and having that time in your life where your friends are your closest confidantes as you all go through similar things together.

The upcoming reunion special is supposed to be unscripted, so anything could happen. Still, here are 10 things we want to see!

We’ve heard plenty of trivia and behind-the-scenes facts from the set of Friends over the years, but we’re always up for hearing more. Are there any more improvised moments that became well-known? Any behind-the-scenes pranks? Or even more to the story of the development of the show and its characters from the creators (who are expected to have some kind of involvement) themselves? The reunion special would be the perfect place to reveal some more juicy details from the set of Friends.

The Purple Apartment

We’d at least appreciate a glimpse of the old place. The purple apartment with the golden picture frame around the peephole is definitely one of the most-recognized sets. It was the home of Phoebe and Monica, then Rachel and Monica, Chandler and Joey, Chandler and Monica… in fact, every friend lived there at some point.

It’s significant and one of the places the friends hung out at the most, other than Central Perk, of course.

Play It Like A Sitcom

We want to see more of the familiar chemistry, witticisms, quotes and more from the Friends cast. To get a real Friends vibe, we need a sitcom environment to achieve it. Of course, modernization would be a factor given the show went off the air in 2004, and there have been many changes in the world since. We’d love to see the characters at the forefront for a little bit during the special. We love the actors, but we love the characters equally as much.

Central Perk

Imagine if the reunion was held in Central Perk. How awesome would that be? The friends all gathering together 25 years after the premiere of the pilot in their old coffee hangout would be absolutely perfect, and fans would be thrilled to see the old gang back on their favorite couch, coffee mugs in hand.

Not to mention it’d be a comfortable and familiar setting for the actors, so why not?

Where Are They Now?

We’d love to hear from the cast members themselves regarding where they’d think their characters would be now. What would Rachel be doing after getting off the plane to Paris? Did she and Ross finally make things work between them? What about Phoebe and Mike? Did they stay in the city or move to the suburbs where Phoebe could live out her ‘soccer mom’ dream? How about Chandler, Monica and their twins? And is Joey living in their house? We want to know if more kids were added, careers changed, or if any one friend ended up far away from New York, like Hawaii or LA (other than Joey, of course). Most of all, we’d like to hear it from the people that know our favorite six friends the best.

More Jokes

We have ten years’ worth of jokes from the show, but we’d love to have some more. Wouldn’t it be fun to have a new Friends reference to slip into casual conversation? We imagine some people are getting really tired of references like “Pivot!", so we need some new material.

We could make up our own, but we’d rather take a line from the experts on hand. We’d love to see some more joking between Chandler and Joey too, if it’s not too much to ask.

References

Speaking of “Pivot!", we’d love to see the friends drop a few references to episodes past. From “Could I BE wearing any more clothes?” to “Unagi” and the frequently used “We were on a break!", we’d love to see the Friends cast reminisce. What were their favorite episodes and why? What references do they find themselves using in everyday life, if any? Is there a reference they hated or believe is too overused (or even underrated)? We’d love the answers to these questions!

Janice

Janice (Maggie Wheeler) always appeared randomly throughout the series, when the friends least expected it. Wouldn’t it be a fantastic idea to have Janice make another spontaneous appearance? Fans would be all over it.

Another chance to hear Janice utter “Oh. My. God."? It would be priceless, and we’d love to see the reactions of the cast (we’re imagining it would be a surprise to them, too).

How You Doin’?

Joey’s most famous line was his pick-up line, “How you doin’?” in his sexiest tone. It worked on just about everybody (it even made Phoebe giggle). It’s never gotten old, and it’s so totally Joey that it’s become one of our favorite lines of the series. We’d love to hear Matt LeBlanc say this line once, maybe even twice, during the reunion special. Wouldn’t you love it if LeBlanc looked directly at the camera and said his line, as though he were saying it to you specifically? Swoon!

Promise Of More To Come

Let’s be honest: we love it anytime these six friends get together. We love seeing these actors hang out all these years later, and that they’re all following each other on Instagram and are posting pics of their visits together. The six characters are iconic and will be featured in pop culture for eternity. Friends will always be a favorite no matter what time period you’re living in. Of course we want to see them as often as we can in the years to come, so if there’s anything we want to walk away with after watching the reunion, it’s the idea that we’ll see another special in the future (hopefully the near future).
