The Free Guy cast confirms the trailer will release tomorrow in a hilarious new video. The new Ryan Reynolds film comes at a time when the Deadpool star has been hard at work on a variety of new projects after the recent release of Pokemon: Detective Pikachu.

Reynolds has come a long way since his days in romantic comedies like Just Friends, or his brief stint in the much-derided Green Lantern adaptation. The arrival of Deadpool in 2016 truly put him on the map, so to speak, and since then, Reynolds has been busy with one project after the other - all of which are being eagerly awaited by fans. With Deadpool 3 still quite far off in the indeterminate future, Reynolds’ next film will be the Michael Bay’s action-thriller 6 Underground, which has garnered a substantial amount of interest, though much of that initially was the result of rumours circulating that it was a secret Thundercats movie. The new film is set to release this month, but despite this, perhaps one of the most intriguing new Reynolds projects on its way is Free Guy, an action-comedy slated for release next summer.

Though the new film is perhaps still yet to fully register on the public’s radar, the arrival of its first trailer tomorrow will surely kickstart a great deal of buzz. In anticipation of that buzz, Reynolds’ official YouTube account has supplied the sort of trailer announcement video that only he can offer, with Free Guy cast members Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Joe Keery (Stranger Things) and of course, Reynolds himself all chatting about what drew them to the Shawn Levy film in the first place. Everything seems to be going along smoothly until Reynolds decides to take the opportunity to hawk some souvenirs thanks to Disney’s acquisition of Fox, which Reynolds insists requires them to up their merchandising game. You can check out the entire video below:

Free Guy centers around Guy (Reynolds), a mild-mannered bank teller whose rather dull life is only enlivened by the regular robberies at his workplace. One day Guy realizes that he is actually a NPC (non-playable character) in a violent open world video game known as Free City. The game is due to go offline soon in order to make way for its sequel and Guy resolves to do everything he can to spread the word to his fellow NPCs and save the only world they know. The concept has drawn immediate comparisons to the 1998 Jim Carrey film The Truman Show, and to a somewhat lesser extent, 2012’s animated Wreck-It Ralph. Regardless of any comparisons, however, Free Guy is sure to have a style very much its own, and the new trailer will likely further emphasize the sort of endearing humor for which Reynolds is known.

As can be seen in the trailer announcement video, Reynolds very much has a chemistry with his co-stars, and watching them all play off one another is a treat in itself. If this much can be achieved in a single YouTube video that clocks in just under two minutes, then the trailer stands a very good chance of attracting plenty of attention. Reynolds seems to be at his best when his roles involve a sort of tongue-in-cheek persona, and at present, Free Guy seems like just the type of film that he can find success with.
