On season 2’s finale the winner of Fox’s smash-hit who-sung-it reality competition, The Masked Singer, was revealed. Of the three remaining disguised contestants - Flamingo, Fox, and Rottweiler - the Fox was the last costumed singer standing. After Fox won season 2, his true identity was revealed as actor, comedian, and TV host Wayne Brady.

The top three singers took the stage for the last time - Flamingo, Fox, and Rottweiler - and reflected on their journies to the top three. The finale was the last time for the singers to win over the audience and the judges. The Fox performed “Try A Little Tenderness” by Otis Redding, along with some impressive choreography that blew the judges away. Next, the Flamingo performed “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner which sold the judges that it was some type of superstar behind the mask. Last, the Rottweiler stumped the judges with his performance of “Alive” by Sia, which had all of the judges thought they knew who the man was behind the mask, but this one threw them for a loop.

It was a tough call for the judges, but they finally chose the third-place winner - the Flamingo. The first to be unmasked of the night, she revealed herself to be Adrienne Bailon. Audiences know her from the Disney Channel group Cheetah Girls and from 3LW, as well as being a co-host on The Real. After she was unmasked, Bailon spoke about how transformative this experience has been for her. The Flamingo said that she had the time of her life, regardless of the panic attacks from the insecurities and the difficulty breathing under the costume. Next, in second place was the Rottweiler who was revealed as Chris Daughtry. Fans will recognize this rockstar from American Idol back in season 5 when he placed fourth place. He had a quite expansive post-Idol career, with chart-toppers which included “Home” and “It’s Not Over.” Daughtry’s rocker voice was recognized by his fans early on, but his diversity is what surprised audiences and judges the most after he was unmasked.

This narrowed down the Fox as the winner of season 2 of The Masked Singer. Under the sly Fox costume was the Emmy-award winning actor and TV host Wayne Brady. The reveal was shocking to the audiences as they had no idea who the smooth vocals were coming from. The judges had been sure it was Jamie Foxx all along, but they were in for a huge surprise to see the Whose Line Is It Anyway? comedian under the mask. His stage presence was what was really won over the judges, that along with his exceptional vocals and on-point choreography. Brady really went all-in for each and every one of his The Masked Singer performances.

Once being crowned winner and unmasked to reveal his true identity, Brady was able to speak about his experience on the show. He said, “A show like this - because of the mask - took all of the bullsh*t out of the way and just let me truly encapsulate what I do.” Brady revealed how being masked was actually freeing, saying, “I was funny as the Fox. I could dance as the Fox. I sang as the Fox, so I was Wayne as the Fox.” Brady said that the journey was comparable to “a roller coaster that kept going up.” The whole experience for him was amazing and that his win has him “still in shock” and has turned out to be “one of the most amazing moments of my entire life.” Brady encouraged artists of all walks of life to be “vulnerable” and that authenticity will shine through. The Let’s Make A Deal host then urged all of the celebs out there watching at home to call their agent and get on season 3.

It’s been a wild journey of over-the-top costumes, extravagant choreography, and singing performances that has revealed some of the most unlikely hidden vocal talents. American audiences only knew Brady as a host, actor, and comedian and didn’t expect him to have the vocal fortitude that he revealed as the Fox. These celebs have put it all out there and left their hearts on the stage. Congratulations to Wayne Brady for not only being the most surprising contestants on The Masked Singer but for consistently wowing audiences under the Fox costume and winning the title of season 2 The Masked Singer winner.
